NATURE TYKES: Ages 3 to young 4 year olds
Threes and young fours blossom in our Nature Tykes Preschool program! Certified teachers provide a complete early childhood curriculum based on Texas TEKS, NAEYC curriculum guidelines, and goals of the Council for Environmental Education. Children will develop skills in language, literacy, phonemic awareness, creative arts, problem solving, critical thinking, mathematical skills, scientific thinking and observation, and cooperation and social skills.
Each day students participate in group discussion, songs, stories, games, art projects, math, and literacy activities about the live animal visitor they will meet in the classroom, followed by a tour in the zoo and a nutritional snack. The class size for Preschool is 20 students per class, with 2 teachers.
Dates / Times: Nature Tykes is a 12 week series. Classes are offered one day weekly on Thursdays or Saturdays.
Thursday series run February 18 - May 6, 2010. 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM or 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Saturday series runs February 20 - May 8, 2010. 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Cost: Zoo Members-$270; Non-Members-$300. Payment plans are available!

A-ZOO PRESCHOOL SAFARI: Ages 4 to young 5 year olds. New this year!
Our “A to Zoo Preschool Safari” is for 4 and young 5 year olds. This program is taught by certified teachers and provides a well rounded early learning curriculum based on Texas TEKS, NAEYC curriculum guidelines, and goals of the Council for Environmental Education. Children will develop skills in language, literacy, phonemic awareness, creative arts, problem solving, critical thinking, mathematical skills, scientific thinking and observation, and cooperation and social skills. The class size for A to Zoo Preschool Safari is 20 students per class, with 2 teachers.
Dates / Times: A-Zoo Preschool Safari is a 12 week series is offered one day weekly on Fridays or Saturdays.
Friday classes run February 19 - May 14, 2010 from 8:30AM – 11:30 AM or 12:30PM – 3:30PM.
Saturday classes run February 20 - May 15, 2010 from 9:00AM-12:00 PM.
Cost: You may sign up for the 12 week series or individual weekly sessions.

| Where does the Monorail go? We’ll take a ride on the monorail, meet our drivers and see some cool African animals! | |
| Week 7: | Healthy Animals: Zoo Vets! April 9 or 10 |
| Do you go to the doctor? So do our animals! We’ll discover how our veterinarians keep our animals happy and healthy. | |
| Week 8: | Bugs and Creepy Crawlies: April 16 or 17 |
| Whose bugging you? We’ll meet some native Texas insects and take a trip to Bug U! |
| Week 9: | Gardens Galore! April 23 or 24 |
| Let’s get our hands dirty! We’ll visit some of our gardens and take home butterfly friendly flowers. | |

| Perchers, waders, soarers and more! We’ll find out more about the birds who live at the zoo, and meet some special bird visitors in the classroom. | |

| How can you help a gorilla by recycling? We will investigate what the zoo does to help our planet, and what you can do at home! |
