Planning a visit to the Zoo and looking for a way to make your curriculum come alive? Enrich your students' experience with this self-guided program! Students and teachers receive a short orientation and check-out discovery backpacks for use while touring the Zoo.

(NEW!) Backpack Program – 1 , 2 Counting at the Zoo: Grades K-2

1, 2… what do you count at the Dallas Zoo? Supplement your field trip with this self-guided backpack program adds up to great fun for your students as they explore the zoo and improve their math skills.

  • Class size: 5 - 200 students
  • Cost: $7.00 per student; cost includes Zoo admission fees

(NEW!) Backpack Program- You vs. the Zoo: How Do You Measure Up? Grades 3-5

You may think you’re smart, but none of your senses rival the keenest abilities in the animal world. Animals see in the dark and sniff prey miles away—use your scientific measurement skills to see how you stack up against the tallest, heaviest and fastest animals at the Dallas Zoo.

  • Class size: 5 - 200 students
  • Cost: $7.00 per student; cost includes Zoo admission fees

(NEW!) Backpack Program- Animals on Offense- Predator Adaptations: Grades 6-8

In a world of eat or be eaten, learn how predators and prey have adapted to survive in their world in this self-guided backpack program around the Dallas Zoo. Supplement your field trip and improve your students’ cognitive reasoning skills!
