The Earth’s diverse ecology has given rise to many weird and wonderful adaptations, from fur and fins to gills and wings. Meet some animals up close and personal while learning how they have adapted to survive in their habitats.

How do scientists classify animals? Explore the diversity of animal coverings by meeting live animals. They may be bumpy, scaly, smooth, soft, or spiny in this interactive, hands on program.

Turn a classroom into a habitat! In this interactive, hands on program students will learn the components of an ecosystem, and how animals’ adaptations help them survive and thrive!
- Animal Close-Ups: Food Webs
Producers, consumers, and decomposers, oh my! Get caught up in a food web by learning how animals are connected to one another by what they eat! Make an interactive food web and then meet some live animals that depend on each other in an ecosystem!
- Animal Close-Ups: Nocturnal Nature
Think all is quiet after you go to bed? Well, think again! Explore the world of nocturnal animals by meeting some creatures who are awake past your bedtime. Learn how these animals have adapted to meet their needs in the dark of the night!
- Animal Close-Ups: Reptiles
Does "cold-blooded" mean you have cold blood? If snakes use tongues to smell, then why do they have noses? Discover the real truth about reptiles in this cool, up close program.
- Cedar Creek Aquatics Study (3rd-12th)
A creek flows through it! Learn about the native animals that call the Dallas Zoo home in this hands-on, interactive water sampling adventure. Available September - November and April - June.
- Wild Jobs at the Zoo (3rd-12th)
Want to work at the zoo? From accounting to zookeeping, learn about the diverse jobs the zoo has to offer and how to prepare for them. This program includes an up-close encounter with one of our education animals!

What’s it like to work at an aquarium? From diving to chemical testing, this world isn’t just for the fishes. This program includes up-close encounters of the wet kind!

- 2+ Consecutive Programs -$8.75/student at the Zoo ($7.75- Aquarium)
